HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 6, 2011) – Angel Stadium of Anaheim has been hosting sold-out crowds for the AMA Supercross Championship since 1976. Marty Smith, the winner of the inaugural Anaheim race was among the 45,050 fans in attendance last night for round five of the 2011 series. This is the first year since 2001 that there will not be three Anaheim events during the schedule, with Dodger Stadium in nearby Los Angeles now hosting a round of the series.

Anaheim Two is the annual “pink” supercross event, raising money and awareness for breast cancer. Pink was the theme as everyone showed their support with pink clothing, graphics, and gear. All of the teams donated items for a benefit auction and as in years past the effort was very successful.

Both Justin Brayton and Davi Millsaps transferred directly to the main event from their respective heat races. In the main event Millsaps started the race in 11th with Brayton just inside the top-10. Brayton quickly moved forward and was in fourth position early in the race with Millsaps in 10th which is the order in which they finished. It was Brayton’s second consecutive top-five finish and his best of the season just one position from the podium.

The original broadcast from Anaheim airs today at 4:00 p.m. (EST) on SPEED. The next round of the AMA Supercross Championship Series will be held in Houston, Texas on Feb. 12 at Reliant Stadium. CBS will air the original broadcast from Houston Feb. 13 at noon (EST).
