HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 12, 2010) – The final race of the 2010 AMA Pro Motocross Championship was the inaugural event for the newest stop on the tour, Pala Raceway in Pala, Calif. After a 28-year hiatus the venue brings professional motocross back to San Diego’s North County. North County was the home of the legendary Carlsbad Raceway which opened as a drag strip in 1964 and was closed in 2004. Carlsbad was the site of many historic races, and helped grow the sport of motocross in America through the annual ABC Wide World of Sports broadcast of the U.S.G.P which was held at the track from 1973 until 1986. Pala Raceway re-opens the history books writing new chapters in professional motocross for a region rich in the heritage of the sport.

Justin Brayton and Nick Paluzzi, substituting for Josh Grant, began the first moto 16th and 14th respectively. Brayton moved forward while Paluzzi had some problems and drifted back ending the moto in 20th position with Brayton 12th. Brayton started the second moto in eighth, with Paluzzi mid-pack in 19th. Brayton finished in seventh, with Paluzzi 18th.  Brayton’s 12 – seven moto scores earned him eighth overall, with Paluzzi’s 20 – 18 results giving him 22nd. Even though Josh Grant missed the last three rounds due to injury, he finished the series in seventh place.

The original broadcast from Pala was live coverage on SPEED. The next official event for the Muscle Milk/Toyota/JGRMX Team will be the opening round of the AMA Supercross Championship Jan. 8, 2011 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. The team may compete in various events in Europe and Australia during the off-season and will report the results of any such races.
