Grant Earns Second Overall and Advances to Second in Series Points

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (July 26, 2009) – Washougal MX Park in Washougal, Wash. started holding races in 1972, pro national events since 1983, and is the only stop on the tour in the Pacific Northwest. The track is known for its majestic fir trees and is regarded as one of the most scenic venues on the tour.

In the first moto Cooper and Grant started in seventh and eighth respectively. By the third lap Grant had moved into fifth, with Cooper in eighth. On lap five Cooper got sideways in a rhythm section and suffered a hard crash taking him out of the race. Grant remained steady in fifth position where he finished the moto. Cooper was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and was released, but did not race the second moto as a precaution.

When the gate dropped for the second moto it was Grant pulling the holeshot and leading the pack. Grant led until lap 13 (of 16) when he slipped back to second. He maintained second position until the conclusion of the moto. Grant’s 5-1 moto scores earned him second overall for the day, while Cooper was credited with 38 – DNS (did not start) for 40th. After eight of twelve rounds the 450 Class series points are:

1. Chad Reed 337               6. Thomas Hahn 171
